What is Stoury?
Stoury is a guide to where films and TV shows were shot. You pick a theme, see the real places, and follow a trip built around them. Right now that means New York.
Is it free?
Yes. Browsing the map, reading the trips and saving a trip cost nothing. If you book a table or a tour, you pay that company directly at its own price.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and no password. If you want to save a trip, we ask for your email address so we can send you the link. You do not need a card.
What happens to my email?
We use it to send you your trip link and to keep your saved trip up to date. There is a box asking if you would also like to hear about new trips. It starts unticked, so we only email you about those if you tick it. Every such email has an unsubscribe link. Full details are on the privacy page.
[needs Greg's ruling: confirm the retention wording matches the privacy page, currently 18 months]
How does booking work?
Stoury does not take bookings or payments. When a stop can be booked, the button takes you to the company that handles it: OpenTable, Resy, GetYourGuide, Viator or the venue's own site. We do not show live availability, so check dates and times on their page. Some stops are walk-ins or are best seen from the street, and those are free.
Why only Romance and Holiday in New York?
We would rather launch two trips done well than ten done badly. The other themes you can see are marked Coming soon, and you can leave your email to hear when one opens. More cities follow New York.
Can I go inside the places on screen?
Sometimes. A shop, restaurant or museum may welcome visitors. Many places are private homes, offices or buildings, and those are for looking at from outside. Each stop tells you which it is. Please be quiet and kind to the people who live and work there.
How accurate are the locations?
We built the map from public sources, including New York City's open film permit data and Wikidata, plus our own research, and each place has a confidence level. We only show places we are reasonably sure of. A film permit alone is not enough for us to show a place. Sets get rebuilt and shops close, so a spot can look different from the screen. If we got one wrong, tell us.
How do I suggest or correct a location?
Email inquiries@stoury.com with the film or show, the place, and anything that backs it up, such as a link or a scene description. We read every message.
[needs Greg's ruling: confirm we promise a reply, and whether a form replaces email later]
Where does the film information come from?
Film and show details come from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. Location data credits are listed at /api/v1/public/attribution.
[needs Greg's ruling: whether to show that link as a plain "Data credits" line]
Who is behind Stoury?
Stoury is built by Secret Weapon Studios, a film and television production company in New York and Los Angeles. Meet the team on the About page.
Are the trips affiliated with the films or studios?
No. Stoury is an independent guide. Film titles, posters and names belong to their owners and are used to say where something was shot.
[needs Greg's ruling: legal confirmation of this wording, pending the film-imagery advice]
